Dr. Leon Forrester Tcheupdjian, M.D. was one of the first surgeons in the United States to realize that permanent fat removal without surgery could benefit his patients. Dr. Tcheupdjian had studied the techniques and benefits of liposuction from the inventors of the procedure in Paris in the mid-to-late 1970s. He created his own instruments to make liposuction even more beneficial for his patients and wrote a book that explained his advanced liposuction techniques. In the midst of all that, in 1981, he started his own practice that focused on fat removal and weight loss.
Dr. Tcheupdjian helped lead the boom in permanent fat removal in the 1980s and rose to great prominence over the next four decades. He preached the sharing of ideas, techniques, and specialties among his team of surgeons, particularly his advanced liposuction techniques.
